What Are Google Play Store Credits?

Google Play Store credits are a form of virtual currency that you can use to purchase apps, games, movies, books, and other digital content on the Google Play Store. They offer a convenient way to pay for digital goods without using a credit or debit card directly.

How to Obtain Google Play Store Credits

Google Play Store credits can be purchased directly through the Google Play Store or obtained via gift cards. Additionally, users can earn credits through promotional offers or by using services like Google Opinion Rewards, where you complete short surveys in exchange for credits.

The last option is the interesting one.

Uses of Google Play Store Credits

  1. Apps and Games: One of the most common uses of Google Play credits is buying apps and games. Whether you are looking for productivity apps or the latest games, you can use your credits to make those purchases.
  2. In-app Purchases: Many apps and games offer additional content, features, or benefits that you can buy within the app. Google Play Store credits can be used for these in-app purchases, which can enhance your user experience.
  3. Movies and TV Shows: Google Play credits can also be spent on renting or purchasing movies and TV shows. This provides a convenient option for watching your favorite entertainment directly from your device.
  4. Books: If you’re an avid reader, you can use your Google Play credits to purchase ebooks or audiobooks available in the digital store.
  5. Subscriptions: Some apps on the Google Play Store offer subscription services that can be paid monthly or annually. Credits can be used to cover these subscription costs for services like streaming music, video content, or even workout apps.

How to earn Google Play money

There are generally two possibilities in Switzerland. It may be, that in other countries there is more or less available.

Surveys

Those really short surveys either about you (educations, income, etc.), about your latest shopping visits, or your opinion on Google Play Store ads. All of them are short and take less than 1 minute. The reward is usually 15 – 30 rappens.

Store receipts

In this section, the app will know based on your geo-location history, in which you have been, and will ask for a photo of the physical receipt. It is important to take a photo of the physical receipt and not a digital. From my experience, stores which are interesting to Google are :

  • Coop
  • Aldi
  • Lidl
  • Fressnapf
  • McDonald’s
  • Jumbo

So If you visit any of those shops regulary you are in for a treat, because you will get these “receipt tasks” after every visit. Just don’t forget to always get a physical receipt, especially when you are using Self-service registers. But don’t worry, if you for some reason forgot the receipt, you can always flag the task with “I do not have the receipt” or “I have only a digital receipt” and you usually get at least 1-3 rappens. For correct receipts you will get around 20-30 rappens per receipt.

How much did I earn and what did I buy with it?

As you can see in the screenshot in the last 2 years, I have earned almost 100 CHF, that makes 50 CHF a year. With that, I usually buy Google Drive 100GB plan ( 20CHF ) for a year and some other subscription apps like Docutain to manage my scanned documents.
